Maintaining Bone Health
July 21, 2026
Strong bones are essential for maintaining mobility and reducing the risk of fractures throughout life. Women are at a higher risk of developing osteoporosis, particularly after menopause when estrogen levels decline. Consuming adequate amounts of calcium and vitamin D supports bone strength and density. Dairy products, leafy green vegetables, fortified foods, and fatty fish are excellent dietary sources of these nutrients. Regular weight-bearing exercises such as walking, jogging, dancing, and strength training also help maintain healthy bones. Avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, and maintaining a balanced diet further contribute to long-term bone health. Routine bone density screenings may be recommended for women with increased risk factors.
